The Medigap system, also known as Medicare supplemental insurance coverage, will go through key modifications in June 2010. Changes to Medigap range from the cancelation of four policies while two new ones are going to be put in. The changes result from federal laws which passed in 2005.

Medigap policy adjustments :

* The elimination of Medigap Policies E, H, I and J.

* Prevention care and home recovery benefits will no longer be available in any plan.

* An increase in the benefit for excess charge will rise to 100 % in Medigap Plan G.

* The inclusion of two brand new Medigap Plans - M and N.

* The hospice benefit shall be included with Medigap Plans A through G.

The changes will only impact completely new plans that are bought on or after June 1, 2010. Plans bought prior to this particular date will not be affected. Individual Medicare users will not need to make changes to their Medigap policies unless of course their present plans no more fulfill their requirements.
