Microsoft CTO Colin Nurse will be featured in the SMILE conference as a keynote speaker to talk about how Microsoft is supporting the justice and public safety community

Social Media in Law Enforcement (The SMILE Conference) comes to DC April 7-9, 2010

Washington DC, April 7, 2010 - The first ever social media conference for law enforcement professionals will feature Colin Nurse, Chief Technology Officer: State & Local Government for Microsoft as a keynote speaker. The Social Media In Law Enforcement conference (The SMILE Conference™) is taking place in Washington DC April 7-9, 2010, at the historic 1777 F Street, NW building.

"We are excited to have Mr. Nurse's updating conference delegates on how Microsoft is supporting the justice & public safety community," according to conference organizer Lauri Stevens. "Many of our delegates already utilize Microsoft's products and this keynote will expand their knowledge of how they can partner with Microsoft as they move into the social media arena."

Nurse's role as the Chief Technology Officer for Microsoft State and Local business is to provide state and local customers with an essential "Trusted Advisor," in support of the customer's key business objectives and strategies. He brings with him 30 years of IT experience with in depth business knowledge of the Public Sector, Justice and Public Safety, DOD, Pharmaceutical, Manufacturing, SaaS and Higher Education industries. Nurse not only brings a U.S.-wide perspective, but having worked, lived and managed teams and projects abroad, brings with him a unique global perspective. As part of his presentation, he will showcase the emerging interactive social media tools that public safety and law enforcement officials have at their fingertips.

Speakers
The current speaker line-up includes social media law enforcement professionals from four countries. The SMILE Conference experts will lead delegates through three days of in depth social media education specific to the law enforcement professional. The first is a hands-on day of training on Wednesday, Community Engagement on Thursday, and Crime topics on Friday.

Town Hall Meeting Planned
The SMILE Conference will include a Town Hall Meeting on Thursday night to allow delegates and speakers the opportunity to explore and discuss at length issues concerning social media and law enforcement that could not be fully addressed during the plenary session.
