Mike Perry Inducted into Missouri S&T Academy of Civil Engineers
Online, May 1, 2012 (Newswire.com) - HBD Construction President Mike Perry has been inducted into the Academy of Civil Engineers at his alma mater, Missouri University of Science and Technology, formerly University of Missouri - Rolla. Mike graduated with a BSCE in 1980. He graduated on a Saturday and started with HBD the following Monday as a young project manager. Mike worked his way up through the company and was named president of HBD in 2005, the position he holds today.
"I remember when Mike started here at HBD, he was eager with high-energy and it was easy to see even then that he was going to make a long-term impact on the company" said Brian Kowert, Chief Operating Officer. "We're delighted to see that he's received this great honor at Missouri S&T and the senior staff and all the employees couldn't be more proud of him. He's got a great story here."
The civil engineering department of Missouri University of Science & Technology established the Academy of Civil Engineers in 1972. From a charter membership of fifteen, the Academy has now inducted 277 members. Each member is either an outstanding civil engineering practitioner or one who is outstanding, recognized and distinguished in a field other than civil engineering. All are recognized community leaders, role models for young people and are worthy of emulation. They are called upon by the department to be partners in the education of Missouri S&T engineering students.
