Music Upload Website Set To Make History

Father of two Scott Holroyd from West Yorkshire creates music upload website on a budget of £50 and is looking at a return of £3,000,000 once complete.

A music upload site that allows its subscribers to place their album covers on to a grid totaling 1,000,000 tiles, claims to be at the forefront of music history. Worldwidesongbook is offering one million spaces on its Music Homepage to artist's around the world, specializing in no specific styles or genres and having no set age limit. Subscribers pay the registration fee of £3 and receive a profile showcasing their music and linking to all their favourite internet websites such as their Facebook, Twitter and Myspace accounts. The profile includes pictures of the artist and a video of their music and claims to bring users and musicians together from around the world.

"I came up with the idea whilst looking through social network sites for musicians and noting that most sites seemed a little dull" says Scott Holroyd, the creator of the website. "I knew that if I could create a website showcasing a million artists from around the world, all with their own unique styles and genres and then represent them in an original way, I would be offering a better service than most of these sites who claim to make you rich and famous".

The father of two from West Yorkshire set about creating his site with limited design knowledge and limited funds. "I set up the site on a shoestring, my partner had not long since given birth to my baby girl and baby boy and money was very tight. I knew I was on to a good idea but I also know I had hardly any cash to invest in it and that we needed all the money we could get for the twins. I remember the first Monday of 2011 when I visited a web design company to get an idea of how much it was going to cost me. I had a budget of around £50 and I thought it could get me a basic website but £8000 - £10,000 was the price they quoted. This was when I knew that if I was going to do it I would have to learn to do it myself".

The website went live on 3rd February 2011 and in its first week of trading received emails from artists as far afield as India and The Maldives. "The site has been live for less than a week and I have received messages from numerous artists from a number of countries. I strongly believe that this is the best way to get your music heard around the world and I look forward to the seeing the site progress".
