Netwalking Challenge - Kickoff for National Walking Day With the American Heart Association

In honor of National Walking Day, we will be hosting a Netwalk to support the American Heart Association, a 1.5-mile mini-adventure along U Street. Netwalkers will enjoy scenic views and learn about the history of the D.C. murals. Tunon will also facilitate activities that help with networking, and Netwalkers get to view the interactive augmented reality mural dedicated to the life of the actor Paul Robeson and designed by artist Corey L. Stowers of ART B.L.O.C.

Netwalking, a D.C.- based professional services firm, is challenging people to participate in an eight-day mobile networking event that promotes health and fitness while fostering professional and personal connections.

In a busy world where it has become increasingly difficult to find time for outdoor activities and building relationships, people need events like the Netwalking Challenge to keep them motivated and excited about their lives.

"Heart disease runs on both sides of my family. I take preventative steps by walking at least 30 minutes a day and preparing healthy meals at home which helps me cut back on my sugar and salt intake by more than half" said Tunon.

Jessica Tunon, Founder & CEO

Jessica Tunon, Netwalking’s Founder and CEO, is a firm believer in the importance of leading an active lifestyle. She believes that through Netwalks, or group walking meetings people easily get all the wonderful mental and physical benefits of walking exercise while building relationships with others.

“Heart disease runs on both sides of my family. I take preventative steps by walking at least 30 minutes a day and preparing healthy meals at home which helps me cut back on my sugar and salt intake by more than half” said Tunon.

“Heart disease is the nation’s No. 1 killer. That’s why I lend my voice to every opportunity I can to help reduce the number of heart disease-related deaths — including my own!” said Gail Harris-Berry, the American Heart Association’s (AHA) ambassador and You’re the Cure advocate.

Netwalking has collaborated the American Heart Association and announced that all proceeds from the Netwalking Challenge will go to their Heart Walk on April 6th. Tunon will be welcoming participants outside the U Street Metro Station 10th Street Exit next to the African American Civil War Memorial beginning promptly at 6:15 p.m.
