New Book Exposes Assassinations In Cuba

Online, May 31, 2011 (Newswire.com) - There are many ways of eliminating a person; one of them is destroying his /her credibility. For the first time, academics and journalists with different political backgrounds analyze the practice of character assassination of persons and social groups perpetrated by the Cuban government for half a century.

The Other Wall (El otro paredon) examines specific cases in which these practices were carried out against politician Carlos Márquez Sterling, businessman Amadeo Barletta, journalist Carlos Alberto Montaner, and academics of two centers created by the socialist regime.

Four of the five authors will participate in the book presentation at Florida International University on June 24 at 7:30 pm (Room 243 / Graham Center of FIU).

Carlos Alberto Montaner. A writer, journalist, and political analyst, Montaner's weekly columns are published by influential news organizations and journals throughout the USA, Latin America and Europe.

Rafael Rojas. A writer and historian, Rojas currently serves as the head of the Department of History at CIDE in Mexico.
Uva de Aragon. A writer and the associate director of the Cuban Research Institute (CRI) at FIU.

Juan Antonio Blanco. A historian and political analyst, Blanco is a research fellow at the Cuban Research Institute at FIU.
