New Mobile App - NYC Explore - Helps Bored New Yorkers Find Fun Things to Do Based on Their Mood

The top tech PR firm, Macias PR, has launched a new mobile app that helps bored New Yorkers find something fun to do based on their mood.

NYC Explore is the first mobile app that curates activities in New York City based on how a person feels in the moment. The free mobile app contains a database of fun activities, bars, restaurants, street fairs, etc and cross-references those listings based on mood.

How many times have we as New Yorkers said, 'Let's do something fun, but I don't want to drink.' This activity database offers suggestions for fun things to do that you normally wouldn't think of. If it's raining outside, NYC Explore will factor in the weather and offer suggestions that will keep you dry and warm.

Most city guides only list bars and restaurants, but they don't factor in how a person feels in that moment, like NYC Explore.

For example, if a person says he is in the mood to drink, NYC Explore will ask if he is in the mood to "Get Wasted," "Drink for Cheap," "Day Drinking," "Converse on a Date," "Sip after Work," "Fancy Cocktails," or "Brunch." NYC Explore then offers suggestions based on their category.

NYC Explore also breaks down activities by the seasons. In the summer section, the mobile app gears New Yorkers and tourists towards outdoor events. In the winter, the app guides New Yorkers towards seasonal activities, like ice skating in Bryant Park or indoor entertainment, like the Museum of Modern Art.

The creators of NYC Explore, Mark Macias and Sanne de Groot, say they created this mobile app after they realized most New Yorkers are always in search of something new to do.

"How many times have we as New Yorkers said, 'Let's do something fun, but I don't want to drink,'" said Macias. "This activity database offers suggestions for fun things to do that you normally wouldn't think of. If it's raining outside, NYC Explore will factor in the weather and offer suggestions that will keep you dry and warm."

Fun things to do this weekend

Sanne de Groot says the content in NYC Explore is not only for experienced New Yorkers, but it's also a great tool for people who are new to the City.

"As a new New Yorker, I quickly realized I was over-whelmed with activities and things to do in New York City," said de Groot. "This isn't another app that just lists bars or activities, like every other app. If you're up for adventure, and click on the right tabs, you'll find NYC Explore trying to take you to the end of Coney Island in the summer."

The free mobile app offers overlooked suggestions that include: local streets fairs, hidden walking tours, free outdoor concerts in the summer, bike paths, even the best places to admire the NYC skyline.

You can download the free mobile app, NYC Explore: Based on Mood, on the App Store and from the Google Play Store.
