New Site Provides the Latest Information and Music Samples for Sound Clash Fans

Foundation Soundsystem site DJ14K.com launches SoundClashTapes.com, a new Sound Clash resource site that promises to promote up and coming soundsystems, post flyers of upcoming sound clashes, and deliver sound clash reviews.

First popularized in the 1950s, the Soundsystem concept spread across Kingston, Jamaica as DJs assembled a collection of music gear, loaded them onto their trucks, and took their party on the road. Turntables, records, massive speakers, miles of wires and a generator are all they needed to get a party started. Though the initial music as dominated by American rhythm and blues, the Jamaican beat ultimately took over, as more local music was produced.

Sound Clashing, which is a competition pitting crew members from different Soundsystems, has carved an international following. Sounds from the world over would converge on a venue and battle it out, pitting their skills against other noteworthy opponents. Audience feedback is of utmost importance, and legendary Soundsystems develop a passionate, cult-like following. Some Soundsystems that are in this category include Volcano, Jaro, Downbeat, Stone Love, Mighty Crown and Bass Odyssey.

Sound Clashes primarily feature Reggae Dancehall Music. The objective is straightforward enough: to dominate one's competitors. Soundsystems carefully select their tracks, and almost always feature Dubplates, which are exclusive, personalized tracks. Done right, the sound can whip the crowd into frenzy. This is a critical objective because winners are usually determined by crowd response. Though several formats may be applied during a Sound Clash, the popular format is 30 minutes, followed by 15 minutes, then Dub fi Dub.

To support the legions of fans across the world, DJ14K.com produced SoundClashTapes.com, which is a new blog focused on delivering weekly information on anything and everything that constitutes the world of Dancehall, including news, articles, reviews, trends, music samples, clash reports, upcoming clashes, and links to bestselling albums on iTunes. Anything that takes place, or will take place in the Reggae Dancehall community will receive coverage in SoundClashTapes.com.

Long time Reggae Dancehall fans as well as those new to the genre will find comprehensive coverage in SoundClashTapes.com. The universe of Reggae Dancehall is conveniently assembled in one site, making the search for information, products, music and video a one-stop affair.
