NICOLE HENRY KEEPS METROPOLITAN ROOM HOT STREAK GOING THROUGH JUNE

NEXT DATES ARE MAY 14, JUNE 18

In what will be her 12th and 13th monthly appearances at The Metropolitan Room, Nicole Henry lights up New York's most talked-about intimate concert venue on Friday May 14 and Friday June 18, both at 9:45pm. If you haven't had the opportunity to catch the Miami Beach-based singer, who just nabbed a Bistro Award for Outstanding Jazz Vocalist, now is the time.

MEMBERS OF THE PRESS MAY ATTEND EITHER OF THESE SHOWS.

During the summer, Henry will be in the recording studio creating her fourth album. As she continues to evolve her modern blend of jazz, R&B and adult contemporary into a distinctive sound, Henry is hard at work conceiving a brand new act to accompany this forthcoming album project. Featuring songs from the album (a collection of new tunes and rarely heard covers), this show, slated for later this fall, will be presented by the Metropolitan Room, and will be Henry's first extended major engagement in New York.

Henry returned from a tour in Russia in April, which is only one of the thirteen countries she's toured in over the last few years. "She has grace, presence, a superb and sumptuous voice...a style unseen these days" commented Jazz Hot France. Domestically, Billboard remarked about her performances "An artist who knows how to make a song her own...she has a potent voice and her interpretive sense is sharp and distinctive."

In February, The New York Times critic, Stephen Holden observed: "The gifted Florida singer has become one of the top attractions at the Metropolitan Room." He went on to add: "She phrases songs with a freewheeling sense of play that never loses sight of the subject at hand."

A featured in-flight artist for Delta Airlines, Henry's three top-selling recordings date back to her solo debut "The Nearness of You" (2004), which reached #2 on the HMV Japan Jazz Charts where it stayed in the top 10 for three months. Her follow-up CD, "Teach Me Tonight," with the Eddie Higgins Trio, reached #1 on HMV Japan, and earned their top honor, Best Vocal Jazz Album of 2005. Her latest CD, "The Very Thought of You," produced by Hal Batt and Don Mizell reached #7 on Billboard's Jazz Chart in 2008. Henry's upcoming album, will introduce a distinctive, unique sound, personal to her alone.

Nicole Henry's next two Metropolitan Room shows are Friday, May 14 at 9:45 and Friday, June 18 at 9:45pm. The cover charge is $25 (plus a two-drink minimum). For reservations call 212/206-0440 or visit www.metropolitanroom.com for more information or to pre-pay online.
