Norwich Choir Flash Mob Helps Partridge Film Première Come to Anglia Square Not Leicester Square
Online, July 23, 2013 (Newswire.com) - On the 29th of June, Alan Partridge fans gathered around HMV on Gentlemen's walk, Norwich, to enjoy a special flash mob performance by a Norwich choir called Invidia voices. To help campaign for the new Alan Partridge movie world premiere to be held in Norwich and not Leicester square, the group sang a parody version of a Alicia keys, number one hit 'Empire state of mind' changing the title to 'Partridge state of mind' and included some of Alan Partridge's most famous lingo.
The campaign to help the Partridge film premiere come to Anglia Square, Norwich started a month ago when two friends started a Facebook group, which since then has grown to have more than 7,000 likes.
It seems the Norwich choir, combined with thousands of people backing the campaign across social media, Alan Partridge themed merchandise and protests outside Norwich city hall, has worked and was announced last week that the world premiere will in fact take place in Norwich. The red carpet will be rolled out in Anglia Square, for Norfolk's most famous DJ on the 24th July. The event will take place at lunch time, at Anglia Squares Hollywood cinema, where Alan Partridge will greet his many fans before taking a helicopter ride to head to London for the Leicester Square premiere that evening.
Founders of the campaign, Rafiq Turnbull, and Rob Wilkes are ecstatic that all of their hard work to bring the Partridge world premiere to Norwich has paid off.
Mr Turnbull said, "the whole world will be watching Norwich...It just shows what two guys and a bit of social media can do."
Trevor Wicks, owner of Anglia Square's Hollywood cinema is also happy about the news stating he thought "the local campaign was incredible" and "Having a world premiere in our city is very special, were very pleased Studio Canal are giving us the opportunity".
But it seems the fans are the happiest, with many fans expressing their excitement over social networking site Twitter with one fan tweeting "AA-HAA VICTORY for #AngliaSquareNotLeicesterSquare bringing #alanpartridge to screen in Norwich now how do I get tickets for the premiere?
So if you're from Norfolk, then make sure you head on down to Anglia Square on the 24th July to see history take place and watch Alan Partridge strut down the red carpet!
