Peaceful Parenting Workshop to Discuss Sexual Abuse Treatment and Recovery in Flint MI

Online, July 4, 2010 (Newswire.com) - Sexual assault treatment and recovery will be covered during Peaceful Parenting Workshops to be held Tuesday, July 27, 2010 from 6-8p.m. and will be repeated on Wednesday, July 28, 2010 from 9-11a.m at Richardson Consulting Inc. Family Counseling Center, 6309 N. Saginaw St. Flint, MI 48505.

The free workshop will be led by Recco Richardson, Ph.D.

Dr. Richarson is hearing more and more in his counseling sessions that there is still great pain from sexual assault and abuse years after the event has taken place. Many individuals have been removed from the presence of the offender. Yet often times no one helped the victim work through the wrong that was done. Sometimes adults don't believe children when it happens or if one is abused as an adult, society sometimes encourages a rushed healing process.

This workshop will discuss signs, effects, predictors and strategies that will help victims overcome the trauma of sexual abuse.
