Pind Da Bulawa @ Suresh Gyan Vihar University

Online, February 20, 2012 (Newswire.com) - Students & faculty of Gyan Vihar School of Hotel Management, a department of Suresh Gyan Vihar University, Jagatpura, Jaipur (best college in india) organized the Punjabi Theme Party Pind Da Bulawa (invitation from the village) on Saturday the 18th Feb 2012. One could hear the dhol from a distance, which turned out to be the prelude. It was not just the dhol that attracted but the rural setting for the right ambience with a Mud House, Phulkari, Thatch Roofs, Lenterns, colorful Chunnis, Jhandis, Pankhis, Kites, Bullock cart, Manjees, Muddhas and Paper Painted Walls etc. It was a jhalak of Panjab in Jaipur City.

To begin with right spirit the welcome drink had the choice of Lassi Patialla/ Chaach Laajwab/ Jaljeera/ Kanji/ Santa Banta - Sweet & Sour drink. The Soup Stop was Mehak Panjab de (fragrance of Punjab). The food stalls also had interesting names eg. stall serving authentic Sarson ka Sag Te Makki de Roti was called Punjab de Khetan Whichon (from the fields of Punjab). The food variety included, Paneer Balle Balle, Khadhi Pakodi te Chawal, Bhagwara Dal. There were assorted Breads - Makkhanni Nan, Tandoor Roti/ Pudina Paratha/ Lacha Partha/ Amritsari Kulcha. For the lovers of non vegetarians, the fare included Kukkad Makhni, Meet Tariwala & Machhi Amritsari. The dessert stall Bholle de Hatti was offering Gajrela (Gajar halwa). The food was served in attractive handis. The rustic style mock bar was named Theka.

The festival was inaugurated by lighting a lamp by the Hon'ble Chairperson Mr. Sunil Sharma accompanied by the Hon'ble Chief Mentor Dr. Sudhansu Sharma, Hon'ble Vice Chancellor Prof (Dr.) B.V. Somashekhar, Hon'ble Pro Vice Chancellor Majer General B.K. Verma (Retd.) and Hon'ble Registrar Sh. Narhari Sharma IAS (Retd.). The students were applauded, food quality & variety presented in a Punjabi Village theme appreciated by the Chairperson and other dignitaries.

While Punjabi folk music and flick was in the background, the students had put up Bhangra and Giddha dances typically dressed in colourful Punjabi attire.

Principal Vijay K. Gupta informed that students are not only taught Regional Cuisines of the country but also how different themes are prepared to enhance the ambience and the food experience, as part of the curriculum. He further said that such exercises are big learning experiences for the students and prepare them well to serve the industry.
