PurpleLetter Becomes the Newest Method for Contacting the Government, Media and Anyone Else Who Matters

During this past year, musician Kanye West, South Carolina Rep. Joe Wilson and tennis superstar Serena Williams chose public outbursts as their method for exercising their 1st Amendment right to free speech and expressing opinions. Entrepreneur Paige Maurer-Wheeler has introduced a more formal and effective approach that allows everyday citizens to be heard by the masses - PurpleLetter.org.

A nonpartisan First-Class letter-writing tool, PurpleLetter.org features an extensive online database, simplifying the process for contacting elected officials, government agencies, special interest groups, lobbyists, media and advocacy groups.

"People are more anxious than ever to express opinions and ideas, but rarely can they create change by chatting on social media sites or by conversing at a coffee shop," Wheeler said. "First-class mail is more likely to be read than e-mails, and PurpleLetter.org makes the process easy because you don't have to buy a stamp, find stationery, research addresses or visit the post office."

The letter-writing process is simple and begins with users selecting a subject and unlimited recipients from the PurpleLetter.org database (personal contact lists can be uploaded too). After writing the letter, the user can carbon copy additional recipients, ranging from President Obama and major media contacts such as MSNBC's Chris Matthews and Fox New's Glenn Beck to friends and family. PurpleLetter also allows users to share their letters through email, Facebook and Twitter. Wheeler insists "It is so easy that my mom can even use it." The end product is a personalized letter printed out on PurpleLetter stationery in an eye-catching PurpleLetter envelope.

Users can also gather support for their causes - and encourage accountability, transparency and responsiveness from recipients - by posting their letters in the PurpleLetter.org Letter Gallery for all to see. Letters posted to the Letter Gallery can be posted anonymously or not. PurpleLetter anxiously waits to see what individuals and Special Interest groups jump on board first and move their supporters towards this revolutionary tool.
"A Purple Letter doesn't identify one as a Republican or Democrat, but rather a concerned American displaying responsible citizenry set forth in the U.S. Constitution," added Wheeler, who was partially inspired to create PurpleLetter.org after noting users on her online prayer sanctuary, iPrayToday.com, expressed increasing struggles and frustrations over not having their voices heard or their needs met.

Wheeler emphasizes the importance of letter writing. She cites its familiarity, palpability and keepsake potential and also notes historic examples of letter writers ranging from St. Paul and St. Peter to Abraham Lincoln and Thomas Jefferson. "Putting your thoughts out there is just like planting a seed.....and you can only expect your idea to grow and gain support if you have done so."
Fees for sending out first-class PurpleLetter range from $0.99 to $1.29, depending on the number of recipients. International users can send letters anywhere in the United States for the same price. Bulk rates are also available. PurpleLetter welcomes all international users but especially looks forward to accommodating our U.S. servicemen and women abroad who fight daily for our freedom.
