Qualitest introduces the Shrinkage Cone, a non-contact shrinkage and expansion tester for Concrete, Cement and Building materials
Online, November 10, 2009 (Newswire.com) - Qualitest's shrinkage cone is designed to accurately measure the shrinkage or expansion of concrete, cement, mortar and other fluid building materials. The tester will measure the initial shrinkage/expansion that takes place within minutes of mixing and then monitor the tested material's shrinkage/expansion for a user defined test time.
The innovative and patented delta El measuring system facilitates a correct relative length change by utilizing touch free laser measurement technology. The length change is registered with a resolution of 0.1 micron and the results are digitized and stored on a computer using the included software package. The relative length change in the material is registered from the first few minutes after mixing until a user defined end of test time is reached. In addition to the length change, the temperature and humidity can also be stored by the software.
The sample container is specially designed in a cone shape to ensure that the measured length change correlates with the relative length change of the material. The sample container features a double wall metal vessel for easy heating and cooling using an external liquid temperature control unit. The entire measurement process is conducted without any mechanical coupling between the fluid and the sensor.
