Online, May 25, 2010 (Newswire.com) - CMAT, Centre for Music Arts and Technology, in Handsworth, Birmingham is launching a new Internet radio service on Friday 11th June. This will be Birmingham's newest station. The station has the capacity to stream 24/7 and will be available through iTunes, windows, DAB and vlc worldwide.
Radio C.M.A.T will entertain and inform audiences with the best music, drawn from a wide variety of genres, that reflect contemporary society. 'World Music', Pop, Hip Hop, R&B, Grime, Rock and Gospel will all have focus as the exciting project begins.
Radio C.M.A.T will debut with a two hour show from 6pm - 8pm from presenter Bob Ramdhanie who is CMAT's Operations Director and formerly a presenter of 'world music' on BRMB Radio in Birmingham. Bob's launch show will include an interview and music from Black Voices who are the internationally renowned a cappella quintet, based at CMAT. Members of the board and special guests will also give a flavour of what the CMAT ethos is and it's future plans to build on the well-established ' Grosvenor Studios', which is now the new and exciting CMAT. The station intends to link closely with local communities and schools to produce magazine and related shows.
Radio C.M.A.T's unique points will principally be in the nurturing and promotion of exciting 'world music' from our region as well as international and local interviews, special features and cultural themes from a wide range of established and new presenters. It will actively seek audience interaction and include innovative ideas from its audiences.
As a part of the CMAT training portfolio, the station will also offer training and education programmes for groups or individuals seeking to work in broadcasting or the creative industry sectors.
Bob Ramdhanie from CMAT explains
Community radio, in whatever form, has a direct and critical role to perform in its neighbourhoods and I look forward to being an active part of our station, to ensure that it is a genuine two-way process for engaging and keeping listeners. We at CMAT would value and act upon community initiatives that makes great listening.
