Reactor Core Announces Unique Curriculum Partnership to Teach Coding in Jordan

Collaboration with ReBootKamp Offers Refugees and Other Students a Fresh Start and Pathway to Tech Careers

Half of RBK's seats are reserved for women

Reactor Core, the leader in technology education, today announced the launch of their curriculum within a joint program with ReBootKamp, a coding bootcamp in Jordan with a special focus on serving Syrian refugees. Through this unique partnership Reactor Core and RBK will empower students by teaching practical and in-demand computer science skills.

In order to ensure that students have access to a top-tier coding program, Reactor Core, the parent company of leading coding school Hack Reactor, has joined with RBK to share insights and offer intensive training on their unique coursework approach. Following the completion of a four-week prep class, RBK has progressed to begin teaching their students Hack Reactor’s revolutionary curriculum using a classroom model that mirrors the one in place at Hack Reactor. In addition to working together on program design, Hack Reactor is also sharing its one-of-a-kind education methods that emphasize problem solving, leadership, team building, collaboration and hands-on learning.

"We believe in the power of education to transform lives and build community," said Shawn Drost, chief commercial officer, Reactor Core. "Through this collaboration we hope to support people that are using education as a path forward toward success."

As a result of their collaboration with Reactor Core, RBK offers a unique educational opportunity to help those looking to move from “poverty to prosperity” including several students affected by recent events in Syria. RBK is one of the first coding bootcamps in the Middle East and holds half of it’s seats for women.

"We believe in the power of education to transform lives and build community,” said Shawn Drost, chief commercial officer, Reactor Core. “Through this collaboration we hope to support people that are using education as a path forward toward success."

ReBootKAMP’s curriculum offers education in software development and computer programming, as well as digital tools used in creative arts. Their lesson plan is market-driven and features instruction in the most in-demand skills, including JavaScript, Photoshop, HTML/CCS, Revit and SQL.

“Hack Reactor has an undeniable record of success, and we are thrilled to incorporate their proven teaching methods into our program,” said Hugh Bosley, founder, RBK. “Working together, we are able to offer those looking to create a successful future for themselves a new opportunity unlike any other offered before in Jordan, while also helping to build a global pipeline of skilled tech professionals.”

Similar to Hack Reactor schools, mentoring plays a large role at RBK, with tech professionals offering guidance and encouragement to those enrolled. Additionally, once students graduate this summer, they will have the opportunity to move to StudioRBK, a web development company launched by RBK, and engage in real-world projects. As part of StudioRBK, graduates are then brokered to tech and creative arts clients in Europe and the Americas.

RBK’s program began on April 2 and is located in Amman, Jordan. The initial class consists of 34 students selected from more than 400 applicants, with half of the class having refugee status.
