New children's book release

Remember Pokemon? Well, forget it.

Monsters dueling on top of lunchboxes. Lightning and tornadoes in the school lunchroom. That's real fun. Rinjitoto, a middle reader book, is aimed squarely at the 8-12 year old boy's brain. It takes the dueling monster genre of Pokemon and Yu-gi-oh so popular in the late 80's and early 90's and rejuvenates it with a twist.

In Rinjitoto what's in your school lunchpot forms a dueling monster. There's a catch or two though. The first is that the more disgusting the food in your lunchpot, the stronger the monster it creates. The other catch is that if you win you have to eat what's in your lunchpot or forfeit your match, even if it's a lizard tail and liver sandwich.

In the first of a planned series of books, a daily battle rages at lunchtime for the island Rinjitoto dueling championship. It all happens in the school cafeteria on top of their Rinjitoto lunchpots. The monsters are all formed from what the kids bring for lunch, which is almost always something gross, in the hopes of winning a match. The monsters themselves are only 3 inches tall and can only harm each other.

Author Brett Ziskind states "I believe in basic grass roots market research. Before writing the book I sat down and spoke with a segment of the target audience and threw ideas at them; basically a room full of elementary school boys. I took what they reacted well to and turned it into Rinjitoto."

Rinjitoto is available as a paperback, or as a digital version through Banes and Noble, Amazon and other major sources. For author interviews please contact Brett Ziskind at 704-910-9625 or email at [email protected]
