San Diego Recording Artist Krys Justice Charts Number One in Nation's Number One Record Pool
Online, February 6, 2010 (Newswire.com) - RANCHO SANTA FE, Calif.; Feb 5, 2009 - Recording Artist Krys Justice has charted a second song from his debut album "JUGGERNAUT" following its release last month. CTTC (Cut To The Chase), with its infectious hook and beat, first roared straight to the number six position on Starfleet Music's Indie Urban Hip Hop Chart in early January. Then in mid January, CTTC (Cut To The Chase) moved into the number two position, following the number one song Down by Jay Sean, a worldwide hit featuring Lil Wayne under the Cash Money Record label. On the latest chart released today, CTTC (Cut To The Chase) was crowned with the # 1 spot on the chart.
"At any given time, Starfleet handles about 1,300 top songs for its DJs worldwide, and in 2009 more than 10,000 songs were accepted into the pool," says Grant Wright, (W)right On Communications CEO and album executive producer. "A new artist appearing anywhere in Starfleet's top 300 is generally great, so for Krys to have achieved a number one hit really validates the incredible talent he is." Starfleet members are some of the hottest club, mixshow, Billboard, mobile & mixtape DJs, plus professional remixer/producers throughout the USA, Canada and around the world.
Other world known artists appearing in the same Top 40 chart are:
• Jay Sean (# 3) - Do You Remember (Cash Money Records)
• Snoop Dog feat. Busta Rhymes & Doc Ice (# 5) - I Wanna Rock
• Birdman feat. Drake, Lil Wayne & Young Jeezy (# 6) - 4 My Town (Cash Money Records)
• Birdman feat. Lil Wayne & Kevin Rudolph (# 11) - I Want It All (Ngenious Entertainment)
• Snoop Dog feat. Brandy and Pharell (# 24) - Special (Priority Records)
All Night Long, the first song to chart from JUGGERNAUT on both the Indie Urban/Hip Hop Chart in July '09 (#53) and Crossover Chart (#52) in December '09 as a pre-release appeared again as a breakout on the Top 50 Urban Chart.
"I had a lot of fun creating both CTTC (Cut To The Chase) and All Night Long," says Justice. "My music is straight from my heart and experience, so to have it recognized and hear from fans all over the world is really gratifying." Justice added he's a bit surprised CTTC (Cut To The Chase) hit so high first since "I always thought Not Stoppin' [that tells the story of a night out on the San Diego scene] would get the first reaction."
Justice has also been recognized for yet another album track, This Life, when it beat thousands of other songs submitted from all over the world and was nominated in the R&B category of the Hollywood Music in Media Awards, the red carpet event held at The Highlands of the Kodak Theatre complex in November and televised in 17 countries. "I've had a lot of fan feedback, and it's great to hear from people who've really connected with the message in This Life," Justice says. "And it wasn't long after I wrote This Life, that Dream Your Life Away came to me that's all about taking on the doubters and haters who put things in our way."
An accomplished musician with background playing guitar, bass, saxophone, piano, and nine other instruments, Justice's comfort with musical styles and instruments shows in his creative arrangements featuring piano, horns, bells, strings, and even pan flute.
Wright notes that most people don't initially realize how much of Justice is in the album. "If you think about it," Wright says, "most pop artists --think Britney, Rihanna, Usher, Lil Wayne, Timberlake, Lady Gaga, whoever--are either the amazing voice, the handsome face, the great melody writer, the thought provoking lyricist, the great arranger and mixer, or maybe a couple or even few of these. For JUGGERNAUT, Krys is all of these and even the background vocals, on every track."
With the album now available on iTunes, Amazon and other sites worldwide, and the CD being released exclusively through Amazon, it was in November that San Diego's number one morning radio show, AJ in the Morning on Star 94.1, featured Krys Justice and "All Night Long" on their San Diego's Got Talent segment. After playing the track, listeners called in and unanimously said they liked what they heard, securing Justice a featured spot on the station's website and a 90% subsequent polled listener endorsement that the station play more of Krys.
"With Krys having been heard in more than 100 countries online and reaching # 1 now with DJs in the nation's # 1 music pool, not to mention success with the other tracks, I can't tell you how many times we heard that for an artist to break on radio in San Diego or say, satellite radio, they have to break somewhere else like Europe first. We're trying to give San Diego and music lovers more credit than that," says Wright. "Listeners seem to be speaking so we hope merit still has a place in the realms of corporate control and monopoly of the airwaves."
"All my songs are drawn from my own experience, but they're part of who I am and I want my fans to know me," Justice says. "I really just try to write what I'd like to hear when I go out or turn on the radio."
With a strong and growing online radio presence, Krys has fans reaching out to him from countries all over the world. "It's amazing to know my music is connecting with people in places like Nigeria, Poland, Slovakia, Japan, the UK, Italy, Netherlands and Brazil let alone all over the US and Canada. Music really is our common language," he says. "It just motivates me to want to go all over the US and to every one of those countries to do a show and meet my fans."
Justice grew up listening to pop, hip hop, rock and rap, but the music that moved him most was from the original Motown and classic R&B movement. Always an admirer of the harmonies and hooks of that era's sound, Justice is inspired by the courage of its stars who broke new ground musically and culturally. He titled his debut album JUGGERNAUT because it represents an unstoppable force.
Krys Justice Entertainment, based in Rancho Santa Fe where the entire album was recorded, is the independent label Justice formed with his partners to commercialize his music. Learn more at:
