San Francisco Children's Book Author Offers a Bookmaking Class Made Just For for Kids!

Online, April 19, 2012 (Newswire.com) - San Francisco Children's book Author and former Preschool teacher Michelle Diaz Cannon team up with Art Center Artist Carla Deasy to present: "Book and See" a bookmaking class for Preschoolers.

Starting in May with the theme "Hello Home", children work together over a 4 week session to create a book around a central theme. The session culminates with a published book made by the students. As a former preschool teacher, Michelle knows that play affects literacy, so she makes sure to work music, story time, and movement into each class. Book and See is available once or twice a week at the Mobu Dance Studio on Church St in Noe Valley. Bookmaking allows preschoolers the valuable insight and connection to books that will carry them well into their adulthood.

"The idea for Book and See arose out of my visits to schools to share my book 'Ben Not a Puppy'" Says Michelle Diaz Cannon.

"One of the most common questions asked of me was could I come back and teach them to make a book too. It was then that I realized that there was a real need for a class like this. I took my skills as a preschool teacher combined with my knowledge of being a Children's book author and devised a way to make it work. The missing link for me was my longtime friend Carla an Art Center graduate whose organized natural artistic ability has a way of pulling introverts out of their shell and onto the page."

Michelle has had so many parents ask about Bookmaking classes for 5 to 10 year olds that she is currently forming one now at The Painting Studio in Noe Valley.
