SAS DFW Partners with Genesis Women's Shelter
Dallas, Texas, May 7, 2015 (Newswire.com) - The team at SAS DFW is proud to be a community partner with the Genesis Women’s Shelter. “We are honored to work with the dedicated team at Genesis,” said Jon, the company’s president. “We are committed to making Texas beautiful inside and out. Genesis Women’s Shelter has provided emergency shelter and counseling services since 1985. “We’re inspired by the work they do,” said Jon. Services also include parenting classes, children’s play therapy, and legal services. “Their commitment to creating a safe haven for the victims of domestic violence is unsurpassed. Because of their positive impact on the community, we wanted to see what we could do to help with this effort."

To better understand the operation at the shelter, the team from SAS DFW recently attended a breakfast meeting. “We had a great opportunity to network with the people who carry out the fine work at Genesis,” said Jon. Members of the Genesis team presented a history of the organization and shared some of their success stories. “We had some productive discussions to explore how we can help those they serve.”
During the meeting, it was mentioned that residents were in need of basic beauty products. “When we heard of this simple need, we decided to act on it,” said Jon. “We donated over 50 personalized gift baskets to each of the residents. In addition to giving them something they needed, the unique packaging made each individual feel special.”
SAS DFW Participates in the HeROs Program
The team at SAS DFW has also agreed to be part of the Genesis HeROs (He Respects Others) auxiliary group. HeROs works to enable men to respond to domestic violence. “It is important for men to stand up against domestic violence,” said Jon. This year, over 300 men have pledged that any type of abuse is unacceptable. “HeROs shows men that they must be part of the solution,” he added.
Over the past year, HeROs has hosted BBQ dinners at the shelter and has sponsored a golf tournament. SAS DFW team members have volunteered and donated their time to recruit men to become aware of and respond to domestic violence. “As men, we are fathers, sons, and brothers,” said Jon. “It is our obligation to stand up for those who live in fear.”
The team at SAS DFW is looking forward to upcoming events. “We are planning on attending the Genesis Annual Luncheon on May 5,” said Jon. The keynote speaker for the event is Maria Shriver, who is celebrating 30 years of advocacy for women and children this year. “At SAS DFW, we are committed to the Genesis Women’s Shelter. We will help them in any way we can,” added Jon. “They have accomplished great things in the community. Words don’t come close to describing their achievements.”
