Scott McMillin Honored With Inaugural "Work of Heart Award" From Las Primeras
Online, February 21, 2012 (Newswire.com) - At a recent luncheon held by Las Primeras, an all-volunteer group of women, dedicated to a legacy of compassionate giving, Scott McMillin, President and CEO of McMillin Realty, was presented with the first ever "Work of Heart Award". Las Primeras cited Mr. McMillin's tremendous contributions to the community as merit for receiving the award.
Mr. McMillin, along with Pam Smith, were the two award recipients, presented to outstanding community members who contribute to local causes. Las Primeras also held a silent auction at the luncheon, with the proceeds going to several local organizations. The luncheon was held at the Coronado Community Center, and was emceed by Channel 10 News Anchor Bill Griffith.
"It is great to be recognized for giving back to our community by another organization," said Mr. McMillin, who actively supports many local causes, "My Father, Corky, always preached the importance of philanthropy and being a good corporate citizen. It is wonderful to know that we are carrying on his great legacy and staying true to the principles he rooted in our companies. I am proud of our work in the community and the lives we touch through our efforts."
South Bay has been chosen as the next location for a third home in the Homes for Hospice program, a program by Sharp Hospice Care that offers a comfortable home setting for hospice patients and their families. The home will be located in close proximity to Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center. Mr. McMillin and his Wife, Susan, work tirelessly as Campaign Co-Chairs to raise the initial $2 million required to start the home. Once the home has been established, it is estimated another $100,000 will be needed in donations per year to support the home's operation. In recognition of Mr. McMillin's contributions to the community, Las Primeras presented Homes for Hospice with a generous donation toward their establishment efforts.
