Self Defense Expert Challenges Master Christian Whitney To A Debate

Martial Arts Master and Head Instructor Skip McGovern of Washington State challenges Master Christian Whitney of New Jersey to a debate regarding his stance on the regulation of Mixed Martial Arts in New York.

On Friday, February 12, 2010, Martial Arts Master and Head Instructor Skip McGovern issued a challenge to Master Christian Whitney regarding his stance on the approval of mixed martial arts competition in New York state.

"I don't believe he goes far enough in discrediting mixed martial arts. The 'artists' in the cage are only trained to fight for 5 minutes at a time and to go for points. Where did Christian bring up those issues?" Skip said. "These people wouldn't last 5 minutes, much less 2 on the deadly streets."

Although Master Christian is firmly against mixed martial arts, Master Skip doesn't believe a debate between the Governor of New York, David Paterson, and Master Christian would yield any results. As such, Master Skip would like to debate Master Christian before the debate with the Governor takes place.

Skip remarks "I'd like to make sure he understands the gravity of the situation. The Martial Sportists in the cage are susceptible to attacks on the deadly streets. There are broken bottles, fragments of wood, syringes, barrels, ... all sorts of things that make the streets a much more deadly place. Fans need to know that to train for the streets, you can't just train mixed martial arts. You need an art that is equally as deadly. Something like Brinnjitsu or the traditional Downey Kung Fu lineage."

"Master Christian needs to convey this."

Master Skip McGovern would like to set up the debate as soon as possible.
