National CACFP Sponsors Association is Accepting Workshop Proposals through October 2, 2017
San Antonio, TX, August 24, 2017 (Newswire.com) - The National Child Nutrition Conference for CACFP, Afterschool, and Summer Food Programs is accepting workshop proposals for its 32nd Annual Conference. Coinciding with San Antonio’s tri-centennial citywide festival, Fiesta, the 2018 conference will be held at the Hyatt Regency Riverwalk hotel from April 19-21.
Sponsored by the National CACFP Sponsors Association (NCA), this three-day professional education conference will offer 120 workshop sessions featuring topics including nutrition, program operations, administration and financial management for the USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) and Summer Food Service Program (SFSP), program resources, spotlights, training and technology, and non-profit management. Proposals to present at the conference will be accepted online at www.cacfp.org through October 2, 2017.
Nationwide, the child nutrition community serves over 4 million children meals and snacks daily. The community’s platform for communication, training and networking is hosted annually by NCA. With a peak of 1204 attendees in 2017, the National Child Nutrition Conference is the largest gathering of the CACFP and SFSP community including members from the USDA, state agencies, state-specific program sponsorships, and program site operators including day care center staff, family child care home providers, Head Start personnel, tribal nation leaders, and school nutrition directors. Participants have represented all 50 states, US territories including Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico, and Canada.
Featured speakers at past conferences have included Under Secretary for Food, Nutrition and Consumer Services, USDA Kevin Concannon, Michael and Susan Dell Foundation’s Aliya Hussaini, a powerful video message from First Lady Michelle Obama, and many more child nutrition advocates. NCA welcomes proposals from anyone with relevant information to share and gives preference to presenters who are engaging, inspiring, and offer tools and/or activities that can be implemented within child care and nutrition programs.
NCA has existed since 1986 to provide education, support and resources to CACFP sponsors.
