Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools Chooses Hayes for Inventory Management of Largest K-12 Chromebook Deployment in US
Austin, Texas, May 18, 2017 (Newswire.com) - Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, the sixteenth-largest district in the country, has selected TIPWeb-IT and TIPWeb-IM for asset and instructional material management. This comprehensive district-wide solution will be implemented across the K-12 school system’s 170 schools to benefit their 145,000 students.
Focused on ensuring a successful district-wide adoption of their inventory management system, CMS implemented a pilot program across several of the district's campuses. After realizing that program wouldn't be able to support their full inventory management needs, the district enlisted Hayes for help.
CMS selected TIPWeb-IT and TIPWeb-IM, both tailored specifically to the needs of K-12 districts, because they will allow the district to accurately and efficiently track the location and status of all their inventory, including a recent deployment of 140,000 Chromebooks. The project’s implementation includes Hayes performing a full physical inventory, making sure their assets are tagged and they are starting with solid baseline data. Additionally, they will be utilizing RFID across their 170 schools, making this one of the largest RFID projects in all K-12.
“We’re incredibly excited about the opportunity to partner with Char-Meck and their great team,” said Matt Winebright, CEO and President of Hayes Software Systems. “What I love about this project is that we’re helping the district manage the largest school-focused Chromebook deployment in the United States and the second largest in the world. The Hayes team loves a challenge, and this is right up our alley.”
The inventory management implementation includes strategic integrations with ERP system Lawson, the district's purchasing and fixed asset system. This integration will allow the district to ensure inventory has been received properly in TIPWeb while also eliminating time-consuming duplicate data entry processes. For those fixed assets managed in TIPWeb-IT, changes to building location or life-cycle status will automatically update the corresponding Lawson fixed asset system records, also saving time and effort. Other components of their project include the addition of Hayes' consulting services in creating policies and procedures designed to support the adoption of TIPWeb throughout the district.
