Soap Opera Fans To Publish Protest Ad Against Disney In Hollywood Reporter
Soap Opera Fans seek to protest recent ABC (Disney) soap opera cancellations
Online, April 21, 2011 (Newswire.com) - Soap Opera Fans announced today plans to purchase ad space in the Hollywood reporter to protest the recent cancellations of daytime soap operas, "All My Children" and "One Life to Live". This move was in response to ABC's announcement last week that it would be cancelling the shows after more than 40 years on the air.
"Both All My Children and One Life to Live have been a part of our lives for over 40 years; this is not something that can be said for many programs on television today. The type of fierce loyalty that comes from watching a show for so long is not something that is easily replicated. We are loyal to our shows and we are here to say: PLEASE SAVE THE SOAP GENRE!"
Many fans were outraged by the actions of the network and the poor treatment of the cast and crew of the shows. As a response, they have been rapidly collecting donations for an ad in the Hollywood Reporter News Journal through their website www.disneysaveoursoaps.com. Fans report that they are more than halfway to their goal for an ad in the Hollywood reporter but they encourage all fans of the soap opera genre to contribute to the cause.
