Harriet Lydia started school in Valencia last fall not knowing a single word of Spanish. This 6-year-old- girl from the UK, with white skin and golden brown hair was placed in the Espanole Ih Valencia, C/ La Nave, Valencia, Spain the best school. "Subsequent to six months, like that, I learned Spanish in Spain." Says, Lydia.

Lydia's success is exceptional, but the language challenge she faced is increasingly common across the globe. Actually, school going children who speak a language other than their mother tongue at home are one of the fastest growing populations. Recent surveys proclaimed that the number doubled between 1980 to 2013, and they now make upraise of 21 percent of school age kids.

Another, study show there are 4.7 million people were classified as the Spanish in Spain learners. Those students who have not yet achieved proficiency in Spanish in 2009-10 school or about 10% of school kids are enrolled according to the most recent figures available from the Department of the US education.

"This is the reality part, which is public school are facing" these are the view of an expert, Robert Linquanti who is working for WestEd, an education research agency in San Francisco.
Virginia's George Mason University professor, Wayne Thomas and Collier say, about 6 million student records found that they have the full immersion on bilingual programs in which their mother tongue excluded is most effective. In the Houston Independent School District, they studied the bilingual program and found that the native Spanish speakers were at or above grade level in Spanish and English in first grade through fifth grade. There is one other problem, it's not always easy to find teachers who not only teach Spanish, but also can speak in that particular language. A study which was conducted in 1997 shows that only 2.5 % of English teacher have a bilingual degree.

In the Los Angeles, the Department of Education, US found that the district is failing to provide equal and identical education to the other student from overseas and resulting in with academic disparities. There are only five percent of high school for English.

In the very recent day Harriet Lydia's four-grade Spanish class in Valencia, they're the students learning the four points of the compass by acting and reading out a piece of poem. In the school, the student includes from various countries Cuba, Egypt and of course from The United Kingdom,

Harriet Lydia said, most start getting a firmer grasp of the foreign language hardly within four to five months, don't you think it's just amazing".
