Tariq Drabu said “The European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases is publishing guidelines to help in the prevention of dangerous biofilms in the coming months. The group has called for collaboration with anti-bacterial researchers to address the increasing health risks associated with dangerous biofilms throughout the world.”

Tariq Drabu in Manchester went on to say “Biofilms are a problem in clinical settings and for medical device manufacturers. The team of researchers are hoping that the guidelines, which are due to be distributed throughout Europe, will help to ensure early diagnosis and effective treatment moving forward.”

Tariq Drabu closed in saying “The academic community and the pharmaceutical industry will need to work together to target biofilms to increase anti-bacterial resistance, biofilm compounds and medical device surface resistance. Having guidelines in place of this nature is going to help us ensure that we eliminate dangerous biofilms daily, keeping our patients safe and ensuring that they get the highest level of patient care at all times.”
