Tech Start-Up Moms Merge Competing Apps

Mom Meet Mom acquires Mama Meetcha shortly before Boston launch

Mom Meet Mom cofounder, Christa Terry, announced today the official acquisition of competing web app, Mama Meetcha. Along with partner Julia High, she welcomed Mama Meetcha founder Meg Gerritson onto the Mom Meet Mom team. The two mom-led start-ups, which shared a similar mission to connect local moms via proprietary geomapping and personality matching technology, officially merged.

"Meg approached Julia and I after discovering our app and it was immediately clear that we were running two parallel ships," said Terry. "We literally had plans to launch within months of one another."

The partnership solidified after a trial period during which the three moms worked together to ensure compatible strategies and vision. From here, the company will continue to forge ahead toward a planned May launch with a third captain at the helm, leaving Mama Meetcha in its wake. Mama Meetcha's core functionality will be integrated into the Mom Meet Mom platform, creating a powerhouse app that revolutionizes how moms meet.

Each member of the trio brings something unique to the table.

Gerritson spent her early career reaching businesses and consumers within the services, software (SaaS), and start-up sectors as a creative marketing communications professional. She is a new mom to an 18-month-old boy.

"It's refreshing to be working alongside two other moms who get it," said Gerritson. "There is no doubt in my mind that this partnership is going to be a blast and the site will really change the way moms build their networks."

Terry is an author and editor with a strong background in helping brands connect with customers. She's also a mommy blogger and mother of two - a four-year-old and an infant.

"I'm excited to be a part of a venture designed to solve a problem I've faced myself as a working mom with a tight schedule," she said. "Consequently, getting Mom Meet Mom out there in front of the moms who need it is something I'm incredibly passionate about."

High, who is expecting her second child any day now, studied computational neuroscience and worked at a DC-area think tank before making the switch to stay-at-home-motherhood. She has been working closely with the development team to tighten up the matching algorithm.

"We are finalizing the technology right now and the application should be ready for Boston-area moms in May," explained High. "We can't say much more about it at this point, but I assure you, it's going to be a really cool launch."
