Even e-commerce from villages would be possible, said Mr. Subramanian. "India has the highest rate of adoption for mobile, which has resulted in players in the local and international market to have their presence in the Indian Mobile operators space. In a similar way you will soon see various service providers for Cloud Computing emerging and it is going to be the next big wave after the Mobile era. If you take a look at the Cloud Computing technology, it is nothing but providing IT related resources such as computing, storage, network, system security, application, platform as a service", said Mr. Shashi Dharan, Managing Director of Bharat Exhibitions.

BSNL was "going to empower "Bharat" in ten cities", is the good news from the largest public sector telco's senior General Manager of Enterprises Business, BSNL, Mr. MSS Rao said. Robert Jerad Ravi estimated that the global "Cloud business opportunity would be $ 160 billion by 2015. In the context of the New Telecom Policy 2012, Mr. Ravi expected the service to expand rapidly. "If you can store your data in Iceland it would be cheaper for you for saving on the air-conditioning costs," says Mr. Ashwani Kumar, Director- Wireline, ZTE India. "That is what 'Cloud' could do, providing a platform for storing data for everyone from a small and medium business to large corporations and access it at will. Not just for corporations but also for huge data for e-education, e-health, e-government etc.," he added.

Bharti Airtel that is already offering Cloud services has an integrated cloud framework across several sectors of cloud computing including personal, desktops, private and hybrid cloud, explained Mr. Najib Khan, CMO, Airtel Business. "We provide a single aggregate, software, infrastructure, communication, security as service to our customers and this is for the first time for the telcos, "said Mr Khan.

Shattering some of the myths associated with the new service of the "Cloud", Ms. Reena Dayal, Chairperson, SNIA India & HiTech Solutions head of TCS, assured that this platform would bring about a hybrid world and help leverage existing skills and investments bringing seamless user experience. The critical issues which are being discussed in the "Cloud" as a business are security of customer data, concerns about interoperability between different service providers. The "Cloud" is evolving as an "Internet of things". It is most useful in the storage and access of huge amount of data in the genome processing and other big data analysis. Standardisation enabling greater use of the service was a critical area for the business to rise to its full potential.
