The Hampton Hotel Madison Heights took the wraps off a $3 million makeover
Online, September 17, 2010 (Newswire.com) - Mark A. Allaf, General Manager, said not having a pool was a deal breaker for some prospective guests, such as parents booking accommodations for young athletes on traveling sports teams.
"We heard a lot of people say, 'We'd stay there if you had a pool,'" Allaf said.
"We're able to host all type of events, reunions and other family leisure functions," Allaf said.
The pool took up the bulk of the renovation budget, which also included upgrades to the lobby, every guest room, and the fitness gym and executive meeting room.
At this 224 guest rooms, "Everything was taken out and replaced; everything is brand new," Allaf said.
The front of the lobby is a dining area at meal times - guests in a hurry can get a breakfast to go - and a lounge the rest of the day. Toward the back, the lobby has a modern, fullt equiped business center.
Down the hall, a banquet/meeting room can hold up to 50 guest and the fitness gym has a dry sauna.
All guest rooms have 32-inch, flat-screen TVs; the deluxe rooms also have microwaves and refrigerators.
One feature that hasn't changed is the hotel's guarantee.
"We guarantee 100 percent satisfaction or you don't pay for anything," Allaf said. "It's not easy to keep everyone happy, but if you do things right, you make money with the guarantee, you don't lose it."
Hampton's by Hilton Hotels revamp is one of about a dozen recent business investments in Madison Heights, according to Linda Williams, the city's economic development coordinator.
On Monday, city officials approved a spice company for 14 Mile Road. Today, business leaders will gather for a rededication at the Fuji Banquet Center, which expanded with a high-tech karaoke facility and private meeting rooms.
Other business investments range from a 500-square-foot addition at a Marathon gas station to the new construction of a 3,500-square-foot Michigan Schools and Government Credit Union.
Also this year, Costco completed its expansion, Karr's Nuts opened a retail store and Moosejaw added a retail outlet to its corporate headquarters. On Stephenson Highway, Elegant Productions, a wedding planner service, and a sports training facility opened in spaces that had been vacant for years.
