Top 3 Tips For Living Green in 2011

As soon as the New Year began, Ecobold.com immediately reacted by supporting us with useful tips for living GREEN in 2011.

One more year has passed and now we're starting 2011 with a fresh look, new dreams and goals, and we can't forget to add at least one green resolution for the year ahead. As a creator of unique and positive green ideas, Steffany Boldrini, Ecobold.com founder, presents three easy to implement and constructive tips on how to go green in 2011 not only to help our environment but also to save time and money, and have a better health. Here are her top 3 advices:
1. Start shopping at your local farmers' market, where all the fruits and vegetables are fresh and healthy because they traveled just a few miles instead of flying half way across the globe in order to show up on a supermarket shelf. Moreover, when they're harvested a couple of days before being sold (rather than a month before) increases the nutrition levels of your fruits and vegetables and makes them much tastier, so why miss an opportunity of having a few extra vitamins and antioxidants and have a diet with a very small footprint?
2. The second tip is to get a reusable water bottle, a reusable shopping bag and a reusable coffee mug. These low-cost items will make a huge impact in the end of a year. Also, most coffee shops will give you a .10 to .25 cents discount when you bring your own reusable mug, which can add up to several dollars throughout the year. Furthermore, your own reusable bag because you can take hundreds of plastic bags from going to landfills, it's also becoming a trend for cities to forbid plastic bags (such as San Francisco). On top of that some places are even starting to charge for plastic bags! Lastly, a BPA-free reusable water bottle will save you hundreds of dollars in water bottles every year.
3. The last tip is to spend some money on one important thing in your life. Buy one high priced item that you use frequently and that can make a big impact in your health. Depending on your budget, it can be anything from a new set of non-toxic pots and pans, such as Ceramcor's, which can cost anywhere from $300 to $500 or a wool carpet that is completely natural, or even an organic mattress that doesn't release any VOC's throughout its lifecycle and will last one to two decades!
Happy New Year and Be green in 2011!
