Travis Manion Foundation's 11th Annual Nationwide Workout Series Honors Fallen Military Hero
Thousands to complete "Manion WOD" in hundreds of cities this spring, remembering those who made the ultimate sacrifice
DOYLESTOWN, Pa., April 21, 2026 (Newswire.com) - Each April, the Travis Manion Foundation (TMF) - one of the nation's leading veteran service and families of the fallen organizations - will host its eleventh annual "Manion WOD" (Workout of the Day) series honoring America's fallen military heroes. Taking place across hundreds of gyms, ruck clubs, parks, and gyms around the country between April 18th - May 2nd, the fitness event memorializes the ultimate sacrifice of 1stLt Travis Manion (USMC), serving as an annual reminder of the resilience, bravery, and grit of our nation's military community while preserving the legacy of those we lost in protection of our freedom.
Since the event's inception in 2016, the Manion WOD has never altered its format. The workout consists of an exercise sequence numerically representing 4/29/07 - the date USMC 1stLt Travis Manion was killed in Iraq by an enemy sniper while saving his wounded comrades. Each year, participants begin with a 400-meter run (or ruck) and then complete 29 back squats, repeating this progression for 7 rounds. Scaled options are also provided to accommodate for participants of all fitness levels.
Over 6,000 participants are set to complete the Manion WOD this year across nearly 400 locations in 37 states nationwide, marking 2026 as the challenge's largest year on record. Proceeds from the Manion WOD support various TMF programs, including initiatives centered on mental health support, veteran-empowerment, youth character development, volunteer opportunities, and service and leadership expeditions for family members of fallen military heroes. See further information about the Manion WOD in this video.
"Every year when we come together for the Manion WOD, we're not just pushing ourselves physically-we're honoring Travis's legacy through resilience, service, and an unbreakable sense of community" says Ryan Manion, Gold Star sister of USMC 1stLt. Travis Manion and CEO of TMF. "The Manion WOD exhibits how strength isn't just built in the gym, but in our commitment to a shared purpose to one another. It's a powerful reminder that when we surpass our limits, we discover not just our own strength, but the strength we gain from standing side by side with others in service to something greater than ourselves."
Registration and location information about this year's Manion WOD can be found here for in-person events and here for virtual events.

Guided by this mantra, veterans continue their service, develop strong relationships with their communities, and thrive in their post-military lives by serving as character role models to youth. As a result, communities prosper and the character of our nation's heroes lives on in the next generation.
