UNI's IWRC Provides Training Program To Help Small Businesses Comply With New EPA Regulation
Online, August 26, 2010 (Newswire.com) - CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - The University of Northern Iowa's Iowa Waste Reduction Center (IWRC) has developed an online training program to help painters meet a new EPA rule going into effect in early 2011. This rule, titled National Emissions Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP) Subpart HHHHHH (6H): Paint Stripping and Miscellaneous Surface Coating Operations, requires painter training for many painting operations including auto body repair shops and manufacturing facilities.
The Iowa Waste Reduction Center (IWRC) understands that many small businesses cannot afford to send painters to expensive training, plus that means workers are not in the shop. To solve this problem, the IWRC developed an online training program to meet the 6H NESHAP regulation requirements.
Developed as an interactive online slideshow, the training can be conveniently accessed 24 hours a day, allowing painters to learn at their own pace in approximately two hours. A supplemental section outlines the required hands-on training to be completed at a painter's own facility
The IWRC's 6H NESHAP training provides painters with the necessary training to not only comply with the regulation, but also to improve their skills saving time, money, and materials.
"The IWRC understands the needs of small businesses and created this training to provide easy access to painter training that will meet the requirements of the new regulation. The final product is useful for all sizes and types of businesses affected by the rule." says John Konefes, Director of the IWRC.
As an online painter training course, the program costs just $199 but quantity discounts are available. For additional information or to access the training, contact the Iowa Waste Reduction Center at 877-777-0791 or visit www.sprayitright.com.
For over 20 years, the IWRC has provided expert environmental assistance to Iowa small businesses. The Iowa Waste Reduction Center is a program of Business and Community Services, a division of the College of Business Administration at the University of Northern Iowa.
