Voting has begun in the ABC Children's Picture Book Competition

Online, September 20, 2009 (Newswire.com) - The fifth round of the ABC Children's Picture Book Competition began on September 20, 2009 and author Wendy Rogalinski's story "Sorry Doesn't Clean it up" illustrated by Roberta Baird is a finalist.

The story revolves around a whirlwind of a boy that wreaks havoc in every room he enters, and who must learn the essential
ingredients to a proper apology. Sometimes actions speak louder than words and saying I'm sorry isn't enough.

The author, Wendy Rogalinski has been writing for manufacturing companies for 20 years. While writing about industrial equipment has been fascinating, it has never been a release for her humorous style-thus the transition to children's book author.

Wendy, who has been reading the story to groups of children in schools and libraries says, "The story has been well received. The children have even contributed their own versions of the artwork" which can be viewed on the official Sorry Doesn't Clean it Up Blog

The illustrator, Roberta Baird whose whimsical style accompanies the story, is in her second year of the competition. The previous year was interrupted for several weeks by Hurricane Ike rendering her unable to participate fully in the contest.

The ABC's Children's Picture Book Competition was started to showcase the work of new writers and illustrators who find it hard to break into the traditional publishing industry.

The winners of the internet vote will receive a royalty-based publishing contract and will have their book distributed across the country.
